Skowhegan Infrastructure Projects
Planning Ahead for Skowhegan’s Future
With $650+ million in public and private investment planned for Skowhegan in the coming years, it’s imperative that we plan ahead for increased traffic—both vehicular and pedestrian—to the village area.
Village Partnership Initiative
The Town of Skowhegan has partnered with the Maine Department of Transportation to assess current and future transportation challenges and develop a master plan for Skowhegan’s village that will reduce congestion and make our historic downtown more welcoming to pedestrians.
Riverfront Development
Riverfront development and improved river access are important elements of Skowhegan’s future river park. With a $2 million earmark awarded to Main Street Skowhegan to construct a promenade, river viewing areas, and access stairs from downtown to the water’s edge and design concept plans from Principle Group, we’re full speed ahead on transforming Skowhegan’s riverside parking lot into a beautiful and welcoming working waterfront.
Test Projects
In order to determine the best path forward for infrastructure improvements, it’s important to test new ideas, including traffic patterns, pedestrian safety improvements, greenspace additions, and more.
